Our Story
AGSOBA Club 8186 is a proud affiliate of the Abeokuta Grammar School Old Boys Association (AGSOBA Global), one of Nigeria’s most respected alumni organizations. The Club represents the distinguished set of students who gained admission into Abeokuta Grammar School in 1981 and graduated in 1986.
Although members had maintained personal and professional relationships over the years, AGSOBA Club 8186 formally emerged in 2016 following a WhatsApp initiative championed by Agsoba Modupe Babarinsa-Labode. The platform successfully reunited classmates across Nigeria and the diaspora, laying the foundation for a vibrant and impactful alumni community.
In April 2016, a physical gathering at a social party hosted in Abeokuta by Agsoba Remi Karunwi (“Iroko”) marked the offcial birth of the Club. At this inaugural meeting, members elected the first Executive Committee, led by Agsoba Olatunde Aigoro, thereby establishing the governance structure that continues to guide the Club today.
As the Club celebrates a decade of organized existence in 2026, it stands as a testament to enduring friendship, shared values, and collective commitment to giving back to society.

GOVERNANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
From inception, with renowned contributions from the inaugural secretary of the club, Agsoba Olutoye Olutayo, the AGSOBA 8186 established a structured administrative framework designed to promote accountability, continuity, and sustainable growth.
STANDING COMMITTEES
Project Committee
Established to coordinate and execute developmental projects for Abeokuta Grammar School and related community initiatives.
Welfare Committee
Created to support members during times of need and strengthen social bonds within the Club. Over time, it evolved to include a Healthcare Sub-Committee focused on members’ health and well-being. Formal welfare guidelines were adopted in 2021 to ensure consistency and fairness.
Constitutional Development
Constitutional Development In 2017, the Club adopted its Bylaws, providing a formal governance framework and dening leadership tenure, membership responsibilities, and operational procedures. These Bye-Laws have continued to evolve in line with the Club’s growth and aspirations.
